Melanie St-Martin (She/Her) has 5 years of experience in practicing counselling. She is a Registered Social Worker, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a diploma in Special Care Counselling. She is in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and trained in trauma informed cognitive behavioral therapy as well as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Melanie uses a holistic, anti oppressive and social justice-oriented lens. Clients can expect safety, humor, and collaboration in exploring their natural strengths and approaching their challenges with curiosity. Melanie has experience working in grassroots, feminist-based organizations as well as community-based mental health care for children, youth, and families. She also has experience supporting folks navigating mental health challenges, intimate partner violence, emotional dysregulation, self-harm, relationship issues and life transitions. Melanie draws from various counselling techniques that include psycho-education, somatic regulation strategies, cognitive behavioral tools, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance skills.
